We visited the Valley of the Gods on August 21, 2018, during monsoon season.
We entered Valey of the Gods from the north at Moki Dugway:
The weather report was for rain. As we neared out camp site, rain clouds with a reddish tint rushed in from the south.
As the winds and blown dust increased we parked the truck with the nose into the wind, and hunkered down in the camper.
The winds blew hard rocking the truck. It rained and hailed, then it was quiet and calm. We exited the camper and heard a sound like wind in the cottenwood trees, but there didn’t seem to be a wind blowing. We looked up the dry wash and saw the source of the sound.
